These books, written by Judy Walker, have proved to be highly popular and have recently been reprinted.
Romsey Abbey through the Centuries' by Judy Walker, has been updated to cover the work carried out on the 1858 Walker organ during 1995/96 and the installation of the new nave organ, also built by Walker, during 1998/99. The book is now its 3rd edition, but it has been possible to leave the price unchanged at £9.95. It book is available on the Gift Stall.
‘Princess, Nun and Wife’, a novel, is about the Princess Mary, daughter of King Stephen, who was elected Abbess of Romsey in 1156. She unwittingly became involved in the rift between Henry II and Thomas Becket. The novel sets fictional scenes against an accurate background of known historical events, and so brings history to life. This book is priced at £6.99.
“An Open Door" publication, ‘Splutterings from Judy’s Pen’, priced at £4.50, is a compilation of the articles which Judy contributed to the parish magazine over more than four years. She shares her faith and her knowledge of the Abbey in a very down-to-earth way which readers will find very helpful. The proceeds from this book go to the Magazine Fund.
