Daphne LindsellThe Director of Romsey Abbey Girls’ ChoirDaphne was a member of a church choir from an early age. She studied Piano with Miles Coverdale, Singing with Margaret Dick and Flute at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. She completed her teacher training at Bretton Hall College in the West Riding of Yorkshire where she was taught by other well known performers. She taught music at Harriet Costello School in Basingstoke and was involved with a number of local musical groups before moving to Romsey. She
was Director of Music at Stanbridge Earls School for many years, and has taught
Piano, Flute and Singing privately. Her
experience of Choral singing includes being a former member of the Southampton
Philharmonic Society, which was directed at that time by Prof. Peter Evans.
In
1998 she successfully completed an M.A. in Specific Learning
Difficulties and taught English, and dyslexic pupils in
one-to-one lessons at Stanbridge Earls School, Romsey until moving to her
present position in January 2004 as the Special Educational Needs Coordinator at
Twyford School. Daphne Lindsell took over the Girls’ Choir in April 2001, from its founder Diane Williams, who had successfully built up the choir into being an important and highly valued part of the music and worship at Romsey Abbey. |
