BAPTISM

Those seeking Baptism, or parents who would like their children to be baptised, may discuss the matter with one of the Abbey clergy, who can be found in the Vestry every Thursday from 5.45 p.m. to 6.15 p.m., and on every Friday from 3.00 p.m. to 3.30 p.m. Parents and godparents are also encouraged to attend a short preparation meeting from 10.30 a.m. to 11.20 a.m. on the first Saturday of the month in which the baptism is to take place. Holy Baptism is normally administered at 3.30 p.m. on the second and fourth Sundays in each month, but may also take place during the 10.00 a.m. Sung Eucharist.

MARRIAGES

If the bride or groom (or both) lives in the parish, the wedding may be held in the Abbey. One of the clergy will be present in the Vestry on Saturdays from 5.45 p.m. to 6.15 p.m. to deal with enquiries and to make the relevant bookings.

FUNERALS

Everyone who has lived in the parish is entitled to a funeral in one of the churches even though not a worshipper there. In addition, the clergy are always willing to conduct a service at the cemetery or crematorium. Relatives or executors should contact the Vicar to arrange a funeral, or ask the funeral directors to do so.

Prayers for those who have recently died are included in the Eucharist every day.

CONFIRMATION

Confirmation services are held annually in the Abbey. Confirmation classes are held for young people and for adult candidates. Those who wish to be prepared for Confirmation and communion should contact the Vicar or one of the other clergy.

PRAYERS FOR PEOPLE IN NEED

People who are ill or in other distress are remembered at the Eucharist every day. If you would like someone to be included in these intercessions, please tell the Vicar or one of the other clergy.

Home visits to the sick and the housebound can be arranged. It is also possible to arrange the Ministry of the Laying-on of Hands and Anointing, as required.
