MARRIAGES
Getting Married in the Abbey is very easy and we would be delighted to talk to you about having your marriage service in the Abbey. Recently the rules about where you can get married have been relaxed and so if you can identify a link with Romsey based on the following, then please get in touch with us.
Marriage Measure states that from 1st October 2008, engaged couples are welcome to be married in church in a parish if just one of these applies:
· one of them was baptised or prepared for confirmation in the parish;
· one of them has ever lived in the parish for six months or more;
· one of them has at any time regularly attended public worship in the parish for six months or more;
· one of their parents has lived in the parish for six months or more in their child’s lifetime;
· one of their parents has regularly attended public worship there for six months or more in their child’s lifetime;
· their parents or grandparents were married in the parish.
One of the clergy will be present in the Vestry on Saturdays from 5.45 p.m. to 6.15 p.m. to deal with enquiries and to make the relevant bookings.
