Lent 2010

 

‘Praying through life’

 

Lent Group Meetings

(begin week of 22 February)

 

 

An opportunity to meet with other local Christians to reflect on life

and its pressures, to explore ways of enriching our praying and living and reclaim the day as God’s gift.  

The themes of the five weeks are:

 

1. The Squeeze of Life - Praying through the pressures of life

2. The Balance of Life - Rediscovering the Sabbath

3. The Rhythm of Life - Developing a Pattern of Prayer

4. The Songs of Life - Praying and living the Psalms

5. The Prayer of Life - Praying the Lord's Prayer

 

There will be groups to choose from through the week – both daytime and evening – in venues across the town.  12 Groups to choose from – list to sign up available  in church.

Groups planned at present are:

 

Monday 11.00 am; 7.30 pm (2 groups)

Tuesday  10.00 am; 7.30 pm; 8.00 pm (2 groups)

Wednesday  10.30 am; 12.30 pm

Thursday  7.30 pm (2 groups); 8.00 pm

 

 

The material for the series has been prepared by our local ministers, inspired by the book The Day is Yours by Ian Stackhouse (a Baptist minister working in Guildford).  The book is available from Oasis (at a reduced price of £9).  Your may like to use this book during Lent, to link in with the series.   

 

Following on from the series all are invited to come and share in the Maundy Thursday Prayer Vigil at Romsey Abbey on 1 April (9 pm – midnight).  Come for as long as you wish.
