We are pleased to announce the appointment of George Richford as our Director of Music. He will begin work on 1st September 2015.
A Fellow and former Organ Scholar at St John’s College, Durham, George founded and directed the Girls’ Choir at Newcastle Cathedral, where he was also Acting Director of Music. From there he went to be Master of the Song School at St Mary Magdalene, Newark, which is part of the Greater Churches Network along with Romsey Abbey.
In 2013 George moved to Holy Trinity Church, Dartford, as Director of Music. In each of these places he built up the choirs and their repertoires, and developed the organs.
A qualified music teacher based in Dartford, George, 29, is also a composer. He has recently won the Three Choirs Festival Composition Prize and been signed up by Universal Editions as their New Choral Composer.
George’s partner Charlotte is an environmentalist/ecologist. They will be moving to Hampshire during the summer.
