The Mission and Giving notice board display this month (November) features the Southampton Street Support Action Group, a homelessness project which aims to get everyone off the street, at least at night, into warm and secure accommodation. The Abbey supports the project in prayer and by funding ‘welcome packs’ which contain essentials such as toiletries which are given to those hostel ‘guests’ coming off the streets. Sunday 11th November 2019 There will be a Civic Service (non Eucharist) starting at 9.30am at Romsey Abbey, which is followed by a procession to Romsey War Memorial Park for the 11am Act of Remembrance. At Romsey War Memorial Park there will be a field of poppies, commemorating all those in Romsey who lost their lives in both world wars. The majority of the 200+ knitted poppies were created by ladies of the Abbey’s Knitting and Sewing group and some were also knitted by families of the men commemorated on the Romsey War Memorial.
