Saturday 22nd February 2020 Make your own encaustic tile at sessions running as part of our 900 Celebrations for February in ‘Your Romsey, Your Abbey, Your Crafts’. Sessions start on the hour. £12 cost includes tile, glazing, and firing. Each session is limited to 6 persons. Participants should be aged 8 years+. Be prepared to get your hands dirty! ‘The Calling Window’ is a new stained-glass window to be sited in St George’s Chapel, Romsey Abbey in 2020 to celebrate and commemorate the bi-centenary of the birth of Florence Nightingale. The window will be dedicated at a special service in Romsey Abbey on 17th May 2020. More details about this service will follow. The artist Sophie Hacker visited Romsey Abbey early in 2019 to give a talk about the process of making the window and the symbolism included in the design. The Friends of Romsey Abbey hold their popular Coffee Morning on Friday 17th January 2020 at 10 am – 11.45 am in Romsey Town Hall. The Coffee Mornings are held every other month in January, March, May, July, September, and November and you can enjoy cafetiére coffee, homemade biscuits, and a raffle. After reviewing their stock they would appreciate donations of sugar (500g), long-life fruit juice, and desserts.
