Saturday 22nd February 2020, 10.30 am – 3.30 pm
In 2020, Romsey Abbey is celebrating 900 years of Romsey’s Norman Abbey Church. In February the focus of the celebrations is ‘Your Romsey, Your Abbey, Your Crafts‘.
Throughout Saturday 22nd February the Abbey will be buzzing with the activities of various craftspeople, demonstrating some of the skills involved in its construction 900 years ago. Admission to Romsey Abbey is free. Donations are welcome.
Expect to see demonstrations by a woodcarver, a stonemason, a stained glass worker, a lead worker, and calligraphers. Plus there is an opportunity to make your own medieval-style floor tile*, similar to those found in the Abbey. There will be a number of activities for children.
*The medieval-tile workshops are suitable for anyone aged 8 years and upwards. Numbers are limited to 6 per session. There is a cost of £12 per person and booking is strongly recommended via email@example.com
From Sunday 23rd February to Thursday 27th February the topic continues with displays and a rolling slideshow but the craftspeople will no longer be with us.
