Wow what a treat – fantastic Abbesses and doughnuts too!
Today, Revd Bryan Taphouse and members of the 900 Celebrations Committee welcomed representatives of the schools, a college and the Abbey Choir, who had all painted a plywood cut-out Abbess ready to exhibit in the Abbey. The detail and creativity of the work is staggering and congratulations and thanks to all the students, pupils and staff that have been involved.
The Abbesses will now be on display for the rest of the 900 celebrations this year. We’ll feature more about each of the Abbesses but they make spectacular viewing so pop in and see them up-close.
The project would not have been possible without Elliotts Builders Merchant who supplied the plywood and Romsey Men’s Shed who cut out the Abbesses. Thank you!
Today’s proceedings started with beautiful music performed by the Abbey Choristers under the direction of our Director of Music, Martin Seymour. It also included a talk from Sister Maureen from the Daughters of Wisdom.
Finally, thanks to Krispy Kreme UK who donated handcrafted doughnuts for the children to enjoy and which helped to make the proceedings even more special. 🍩
We hope the pupils enjoyed being involved in this project and their visit to the Abbey today. We are most grateful to you all. 🙌
