On Sunday 17th May 2020, a local commemoration and celebration of the bicentenary of Florence Nightingale was to take place with services and events at St Margaret’s Church at East Wellow, Embley Park, and Romsey Abbey. Due to the Coronavirus pandemic and the uncertain path ahead in the coming weeks, it seems appropriate and necessary to postpone these events.
Work to complete ‘The Calling Window’ designed and created by Sophie Hacker to be installed in Romsey Abbey will continue as planned, subject to any restrictions. The other events and services planned for this date are to be rescheduled until May 2021, and hopefully to a time when we can once again celebrate together and give thanks for the dedication and mission of Florence Nightingale.
