Lottery Grant
In 2021 the Abbey received a substantial grant from the National Lottery through Round 2 of the Culture Recovery Fund for Heritage.
The Grant allowed us to prepare the Abbey for reopening in the spring of 2021. It paid for some remedial work, extra admin support, publicity and promotions. The marquees on the south side were also purchased as part of our preparations.
The outcome of most of the spending will be in use for years to come whereas the publicity on radio and in print media showed its effectiveness in the summer and autumn of 2021 when we had some of the highest numbers of visitors on record.
Thank you to everyone who plays the National Lottery and to the grant organisers.
