On Sunday 27th May 2018, Revd Jonathan Watkins will preach his final service in Romsey Abbey. Jonathan was welcomed to the Abbey at the Epiphany Gift Service in January 2017. A fitting start, as his presence in the Parish has been just that. All are welcome to join the 10am Choral Eucharist at the Abbey, when the clergy, churchwardens, and congregation will recognise their appreciation of his work and ministry, and particularly for his involvement with the congregation at St Swithun’s, Crampmoor. We are delighted to announce that the Reverend Thomas Wharton has been appointed to be the new Vicar of Romsey Abbey and St Swithun’s, Crampmoor. Reverend Wharton is currently Priest-in-Charge at St James’, West End and prior to that held the post of Team Vicar in the parish of Smannell and Enham Alamein, as part of which role he was Chaplain to the Enham Disability Charity. Thomas is married to Vessi, who works for FairWays in Southampton. They have two sons, Anthony who is currently finishing his third year at Bristol University and Michael who is taking his GCSE’s this Summer. Thursday 31st May 2018, 1 pm Please join us as we welcome the United Veluwe Choir from the Netherlands to sing a free lunchtime concert. As the Verenigde Veluwse Koren undertake their choir tour of England, which also includes concerts at Rye and Canterbury Cathedral, this will be an additional lunchtime concert in our weekly schedule. The Choral Concert will also feature instrumental interludes. Tuesday 22nd May to Sunday 3rd June 2018 inclusive, St Lawrence’s Chapel Work by Hampshire Calligraphers, with a ‘Landscape’ theme, will be on display in St Lawrence’s Chapel, Romsey Abbey. Christian Aid Week 13th – 19th May 2018 The cake sale last Sunday raised a magnificent £303 (£403 with the matched funding). Thank you to all the bakers and those who donated. After each service on Sunday 20th May, there will be a bucket collection in aid of Christian Aid. Please take an envelope if you can gift aid your donation.
