Do you like classical music? If so, you may be interested in supporting Music in Romsey (MiR), the organisation which runs concerts in the Abbey. Currently, MiR is recruiting for an afternoon concert manager and an extra backstage manager. In addition, we are always looking for fit and able volunteers to help move chairs before and after concerts. No experience is necessary as training is available. We now have all the volunteers needed to take part in an intergenerational project with pupils from Romsey Abbey Primary School on Thursday 23rd January 1.45 pm – 3.15 pm. The aim is to bring together older and younger people for a time of listening and learning and to share experiences of childhood. Thank you to those that have volunteered. Liz Hallett has a new book on sale ‘Romsey Abbey’s Yesterdays’ which she has compiled especially to mark the 900th Anniversary of our present Norman Church. It’s available now on the Abbey Bookstall, priced £4. The book looks at different aspects of the building and includes many archive photos. It’s a compilation of articles that have either already appeared in ‘Open Door’ magazine, or been used in training seminars for tour guides and new material.
