The next Abbey Social Committee event is on Monday 12th August – a New Forest Archaeological Walk led by Roger Leech around the Ashley Walk Bombing Range. Meet 9.45am at The Royal Oak, Fritham, SO43 7HJ and walk the Eastern part of the bombing range via the Fritham Gunpowder works and the site of Amberwood Cottage. The difficulty is moderate, distance is 4.5 miles on mainly gravel paths. The following walk is on Tuesday 3rd September from The Shoe Inn at Plaitford. There will be an additional Choral Evensong service this week. You are most welcome to join us on Saturday 3rd August at the earlier time of 5 pm. This will replace Evening Prayer at 5.30pm. The service will be sung by a visiting choir from St Francis Church, Welwyn Garden City, directed by Richard Harrison. We are delighted that they are able to join us as they take a day off from their residence at Portsmouth Cathedral which runs from Monday 29th July and Sunday 4th August. Please prioritise donations of tins of meatballs, hot dogs and tuna; bags of apples; multipacks of crisps; packets or bags of sweets; 4-pack size toilet rolls; multipacks of penguins, kit kats, club bars, etc; squash; individual fruit juice cartons; individual pots of jelly; and sweet biscuits.
