Romsey Abbey welcomes groups of visitors for guided tours of the Abbey. We are fortunate to have a team of knowledgeable tour guides who are keen to provide opportunities for you to get to know the Abbey and Romsey better.
As well as a knowledge of the history of this remarkable Church and its relationship to the town, they can offer insights into the many fascinating treasures within it. There has been a working church on this site for over 1000 years, and the Abbey and its artifacts reflect the complete history of England.
Group tours must be booked in advance. Tours are subject to availability but can be arranged at a time and date to suit your group.
The tours cost £5.00 per person, payable on the day. Abbey Guides offer a 1-hour tour and are happy to take questions. They are volunteers and all monies collected are for Parish funds.
Please complete the booking form and we will get back to you.
Unfortunately, for safety reasons, we are no longer able to take visitors on to the tower roof, nor are we able to access the Ringing Chamber as part of the standard tours. The Ringing Chamber in the Tower high above the Crossing is opened for visitors several times a year. Tower Open Days will be advertised in the local paper and on the Romsey Abbey web site.
At present, the Abbey is not able to offer un-booked tours. In the near future we plan to have a regular time slot in the week when a guide will be available for ad hoc tours. These will be advertised in due course on the web site. However, our team of stewards are always there to welcome you to the Abbey and will be happy to provide guidance for your visit and answer any questions you may have. The Abbey bookshop offers a number of detailed guidebooks and leaflets that will provide more information.
