Abbey Vine - weekly informal worship
Abbey Vine is our more informal service meeting weekly at 11.15am in St. Nicholas' Chapel and occasionaly outside during warmer Summer days. Songs and hymns are led by our talented Vine musicians and this is a service popular with all ages and includes Holy Commuion once a month.
We love meeting together on Sundays. Some of us can't get enough and enjoy worshipping at both our traditional Choral Eucharist with its beauty and depth, and at Abbey Vine which its joy and creativity.
What happens at Abbey Vine?
Hot drinks, juice and pastries welcome you as you arrive.
Our service begins with our Abbey Vine prayer and lighting a candle. We sing worship songs, old and new, listen to the theme, pray for God's healing and forgiveness, listen to our Gospel reading and then to a talk. We break into small groups to explore further. There is a group for young children and another group for youth. Adults are invited to form small discussion groups with some guided questions. Some use this time to reflect on their own or catch up with friends. We then gather back and share. Our young people often surprise us with what they have been doing or thinkng about. We sing, we then pray for the needs of the world, sing again and end with a Blessing and the Messy Grace.
