Lottery Grant
In 2021 the Abbey received a substantial grant from the National Lottery through Round 2 of the Cultural Recovery Fund for Heritage. The Grant allowed us to prepare the Abbey for reopening in the spring of 2021. It paid for some remedial work, extra admin support, publicity and promotional material.
The benefits of most of the spending will be evident for years to come whereas the publicity on radio and in print led to an immediate increase in visitor numbers in the summer of 2021. Our August numbers were the highest on record.
Thank you to everyone who plays the National Lottery, to the Grant awarding bodies and their dedicated staff.
