Romsey Choral Society, Waverley Singers and City of Southampton Orchestra explore 19th-century German Romanticism through three contrasting works. Brahms’s Variations on a Theme by Haydn opens with classical poise and inventive orchestral colour.

Mendelssohn’s Hear My Prayer offers lyrical, devotional intimacy.

The programme culminates in Brahms’s profound German Requiem, a humanistic meditation on consolation, grief, and hope, uniting chorus and orchestra in music of deep warmth and dignity.
