Ethelflaeda Festival 2020

Friday 16th October 2020, 7.30 pm

Celebrate the legacy of Romsey Abbey’s 10th Century Benedictine Abbess and Patron Saint with an evening of  beautiful music and the Ethelflaeda Festival lecture.

Saxophonist Ian Close and composer Dominic Beeton have transcribed medieval sacred music to produce Sanctus a deeply haunting piece of music full of spiritual depth which resonates in these stressful times. Canon Norman Boakes is a retired parish priest who for many years has been an oblate of the Benedictine community at Alton Abbey. The Rule of Benedict is his continuing inspiration and for the Ethelflaeda festival lecture he will pose the question ‘What has Ethelflaeda ever done for us: is the rule of Benedict relevant in the age of COVID-19?’

Tickets £10 available from Romsey Visitor Information Centre, 13 Church Street, Romsey, Tel 01794 512987 or online (booking fee applies).
