COVID-19. The Abbey is closed until further notice and both the Music in Romsey Abbey and Lunchtime Recital programmes are suspended. Enjoy a wide range of concerts throughout the year organised by Music in Romsey Abbey. Musicians involved range from local choirs and bands to international soloists and orchestras. Concerts begin at 7.30 pm unless otherwise stated.

Elgar’s The Dream of Gerontius
Romsey Choral Society & City of Southampton Orchestra

In 1898, Elgar was asked to write a piece for the 1900 Birmingham Triennial Music Festival. He chose text from Cardinal Newman’s dramatic poem about life, death and what comes afterward. Come and enjoy Elgar’s epic masterpiece, The Dream of Gerontius.

An Evening with the Gentlemen of St John’s College, Cambridge

Described by the BBC Music Magazine as ‘an immaculately blended, responsive, interactive consort’, the Choral Scholars of the world-renowned Choir of St John’s College, Cambridge, the Gentlemen of St John’s enjoy a busy schedule of concerts and recordings. They are noted for their versatility and wide repertoire, performing music spanning over 600 years, from Tudor music all the way through to close harmony arrangements of modern-day hits.
